Making it easier to live well with dementia

Thanks to a grant of £300,000 over three years, the Garfield Weston Foundation is making it possible for people living with dementia - and their loved ones who care for them - to benefit from friendly, practical support in their local community. Dementia support groups from Royal Voluntary service are a lifeline. They help people feel less alone, keep their minds active, and make it easier to live well with dementia.

Long-term support and lasting impact

In 2024-25, our dementia support groups helped 1,170 people. In our 2025 annual survey, 100% of group members said that they would recommend the groups to a friend.

This impact is made possible thanks to the generosity of the trustees of the Garfield Weston Foundation, one of Britain's largest charitable foundations supporting a wide range of good causes throughout the UK. Their support of our groups across Britain means that we can allocate funding where it is needed most. And, because their funding is across three years until 2027, it also gives us the stability we need to plan for the future of our dementia services.

Can your trust help fund more dementia groups?

Royal Voluntary Service relies on grants and donations to run our dementia support groups. If you’d like to learn more about how you can help support the service, please send us a message, and a member of our Trusts  and Foundations team will be in touch.
