Social Clubs and Events
come in all shapes and sizes and provide a wide range of activities, from dancing, crafts and gentle exercises as well as a chance to catch up with friends locally.
Our activity and hobby clubs might play host to music, guest speakers and specialist interest events. Equally we may organise trips to other venues; to indoor bowls, for example. Staying active and keeping in touch with friends is important at any age, but when you’re older, it is crucial.
First Time for Everything is a community-based activity programme designed by Royal Voluntary Service and supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
It provides people with opportunities to try something new for free in their local community, and is aimed particularly at those aged 55 and over or that have underlying health conditions. The activities on offer support physical and mental health and wellbeing and digital literacy because staying active and social have been proven to be important to keeping fit and well as we age. All activities are gentle and beginner-level, and initially take place outdoors wherever possible, with social distancing and other COVID-19 measures applied.
The First Time for Everything programme currently runs in: Hastings; Lincolnshire; Manchester; Moray; North Wales; and Stirling.

We also provide a great range of activities that you can join in with from the comfort of your own home! The Virtual Village Hall brings you a programme of themed online activities designed to beat the boredom of isolation. Activities are led by expert tutors, Royal Voluntary Service activity coordinators and volunteers and are designed to do at home with very little space or equipment needed.
The programme includes baking and preserve making, gentle exercise and dance, arts and crafts and more to come. There are lots of activities to choose from so you can continue to enjoy the things that you like doing and learn something new too!
