Help lead the way – Become a charity trustee

Recruitment now open for trustees for Royal Voluntary Service

Since our founding by Stella, Lady Reading, in 1938, millions of volunteers have stepped forward with Royal Voluntary Service to positively transform the lives of others and their own.

Today there is heightened need for volunteer support across the country – with great pressure on public services and charities. Yet volunteer numbers have been in decline for 10 years as demographics have shifted and expectations have changed.

We recently launched our ambitious and dynamic ‘Mobilising Volunteers for a Better Britain’ strategy, focused on driving change through collaboration with charities, businesses and government so together we can build an inclusive and energised volunteering system fit for a new era. This includes innovative and exciting new initiatives such as GoVo, our new digital volunteering platform and which will benefit all charities.

We are now looking to appoint several new Trustees to ensure we have the right strategy, resources and governance to deliver against our ambitions. One of these four new trustees will become our next Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee, following a period of handover.

If you are motivated by the vision of a diverse, connected and resilient civil society powered through volunteering, and would like to find out more, please visit our partners at Starfish.

In every corner of Britain, Royal Voluntary Service mobilises volunteers to support people in need and the NHS. Our volunteers work with healthcare teams and in communities providing practical help and emotional support when people are struggling to cope.

We believe volunteers are the lifeforce of Britain’s communities and are developing a digital volunteering platform to connect volunteers to the causes they care about.
