Urgent appeal: We need your help right now

This winter, people in your community are struggling, and many are having to cope completely alone. Our frontline staff are witnessing a sharp rise in need, and whether it’s through their battles with illness, disability, mental health or loneliness, so many people tell us that without our help, they just couldn’t survive.

Without Royal Voluntary Service, I’d be sat staring at the same four walls of my flat every single day,
and I may as well give up.

Right now, referrals from the NHS, Social Services and community partners are increasing, and we must step forward to meet this demand. Over 50% of those we support live alone, 1 in 4 are full-time carers, and 1 in 3 have dementia. We are a genuine lifeline to so many people, but we can’t do it without you.

The work we do is life-changing, but none of it is possible without donations from people like you.

The lifeline our volunteers provide every day

Each and every day, our volunteers deliver crucial support; visiting people who have no one else, helping people get to medical appointments, serving meals at our lunch clubs, making phone calls to check that people are ok, and supporting those living with dementia and their carers. For thousands of people, we are their only link to the outside world.

Life-changing support when it matters most

Our services offer so much more than meets the eye. Through the connections our volunteers form with the people we help, they’re often the first to spot when something is wrong. When someone isn’t eating, can’t afford to heat their home, or are becoming unwell, they’ll recognise the signs and raise the alarm before the situation escalates.

Our services are simple, human, and powerful – but to survive and grow to meet the rising demand, they need donations from people like you.

How your donation could help

Lunch - £5

A gift of £5 could cover the cost of a hot, nutritious lunch for an isolated older or vulnerable person at one of our volunteer-run lunch and social clubs. This could give someone the only opportunity to eat a meal in the company of others this week.

Vital Patient Transport - £10

A gift of £10 could help us to safely transport patients to and from their vital medical appointments at hospitals and surgeries. Often this is to receive life-saving treatments.

Home Visit - £20

A gift of £10 could help us to send a volunteer to visit someone at home this winter – someone who has become isolated & alone and is in desperate need of support.

Dementia Support - £40

A gift of £40 could help towards the cost of a support session for someone living with dementia at one of our specialist groups.

Winter Welfare Call Package - £52

A gift of £52 could cover the cost of a winter welfare call package from a trained volunteer to someone who is isolated, alone, and struggling with loneliness this Winter. Our Calls with Care service gives people the chance to talk to someone and offers comfort and reassurance that help is on hand if needed.

Support Recovery at Home - £72

A gift of £72 could help support someone returning home from hospital alone with ongoing visits, food shopping, and prescription collections and deliveries. Our vital support allows patients to continue their recovery at home instead of having prolonged stays in hospital.
