Call for charities to join The Big Help Out during national volunteering campaign
Royal Voluntary Service is calling on charities to upload Big Help Out volunteering roles to digital platform GoVo, as the charity’s national volunteering ad campaign relaunches.
The Role of a Lifetime advertising campaign initially ran in winter 2025 to launch digital volunteering platform GoVo to the public and inspire Britons to give their time to good causes, featuring household ITV names, Dr Amir Khan, Ellie Simmonds, Rochelle Humes and Ryan Thomas.
In partnership with ITV once again, the cinematic advert developed thanks to Postcode Lottery players, will return to screens throughout May. Royal Voluntary Service is urging charities looking to recruit volunteers to upload Big Help Out volunteering roles to GoVo to seize the opportunity to welcome new volunteers as ad viewers are directed to the platform.
The advert aims to inspire the nation to get volunteering by showing the surprising breadth of rewarding volunteering opportunities on offer. As well as airing in ad time gifted by ITV and STV, the campaign will also appear in space gifted by Bauer radio and the Mail and Metro, in time for The Big Help Out.
"Thanks to the return of The Big Help out we are once again coming together and introduce new people to the joys of volunteering. Combine the power of The Big Help Out with the star-studded Role of a Lifetime ad campaign and what an exciting opportunity we have. Now is the time for charities to add their Big Help Out volunteering roles to GoVo to be a part of the action and connect with new volunteers, new skills and new talent."
Catherine Johstone CBE, Chief Executive of Royal Voluntary Service
This year, The Big Help Out is teaming up with The Big Lunch, for a weekend of friendship, food, fun and action 5–8 June, with GoVo as the campaign’s official volunteering platform.
Organised by the Eden Project, the charity behind The Big Lunch, this year’s Big Help Out brings the two initiatives together to encourage people to take part in ways that suit them – from organising a street party to joining a litter pick or supporting a local charity for the day.
The campaign weekend is expected to bring millions of people together to eat, meet and lend a hand locally, and so Royal Voluntary Service is urging charities of all sizes to upload their opportunities to GoVo, which can be done via a simple form. Volunteering opportunities on GoVo tagged as part of The Big Help Out will display campaign logo, and people will be able to search and filter for opportunities taking place that weekend.
