In every corner of Britain, Royal Voluntary Service mobilises volunteers to support those in need, in hospital and in the community. Through the gift of voluntary service, our volunteers provide much-needed support for over-stretched public services and for people as they age. Our volunteers work at scale in the NHS, freeing up NHS staff to dedicate more time to patient care, and within communities to give practical help and support to people as they age.
Royal Voluntary Service volunteers help in all sorts of ways:
Be part of an important and growing movement
Royal Voluntary Service inspires and enables people to give the gift of voluntary service to meet the needs of the day, in hospitals and in local communities. We’ve got big plans and our aim is to support two million people by 2028. It’s incredibly important that we achieve this as the ageing population – and the challenges facing older people, like loneliness and ill health - is growing.
Volunteering is enjoyable, rewarding and good for our health and wellbeing, whatever our age, background or stage of life. By volunteering now, you can help people in need to live more independent, fulfilled and happy lives.
To support our volunteers we run a full range of fundraising activities that enable them to continue their vital work.
