Tea and company have played an important part in our history. Royal Voluntary Service has been refreshing the nation since the second world war when volunteers served tea from trolleys to communities in bombed cities. Tea is just as important to us today and we believe it is powerful stuff which is why our newest Cafés are called Tea & Co.
We know that time spent at hospital can be stressful so taking a moment to stop for a cup of tea in a pleasant environment can provide a welcome break. As well as serving refreshments, our Café volunteers are a friendly, caring bunch that take time to time to chat, listen and signpost services for older people in the local community.
Of course, we don’t just serve tea. Our hospital Cafés offer a wide range of hot and cold drinks, breakfast, lunch and tea options (including healthy meal deals) and snacks, treats and takeaway items. You’ll always find plenty of healthier choices like porridge, fresh fruit, salads and smoothies. You can feel good about using our Cafés too because the proceeds of everything you buy help support our work with older people in hospitals, at home and in the community.
