Hospital support

Royal Voluntary Service volunteer supporting older lady in hospital

Royal Voluntary Service offers a number of distinct services in and around hospitals and GP surgeries. We have cafés, shops and trolley services in hospitals across the country and we provide valuable, practical support to older people at home, as they prepare for a visit to hospital, during the stay in hospital and once they return home.

In addition we run dozens of welcome desks and we are training our volunteers so they can befriend older people on the ward during their stay.

Royal Voluntary Service volunteers and staff run shops and cafés in hospitals throughout England, Scotland and Wales.

When older people come out of hospital, they can need more intensive support than usual to help get them back on their feet.
