Social value is changing. What happens to volunteering?
Wednesday 21 October, 11:00–11:45 BST · With GoVo for Business, part of Royal Voluntary Service
From January 2027, social value in central government procurement is scored on a much narrower model. Two outcomes instead of five missions. Weighting up to 20% on the largest contracts. And on those contracts, a published social value KPI, reported annually, with poor delivery counted against you next time round. Detailed guidance is still to come this autumn.
For the many organisations that have built employee volunteering into how they talk about social value, that raises an obvious question with no settled answer yet: what still counts, where does it still count, and what will you need to be able to show?
Thrive and GoVo for Business work through what's confirmed, what's genuinely still open, and what organisations can sensibly do now rather than waiting for every answer to land. Practical and honest about the unknowns — useful whether you write social value commitments or you're the one who has to deliver them.
Useful if you work in:
- Social value
- Bids & procurement
- HR
- CSR
- ESG
- Community investment.
