Home From Hospital Strength & Balance Volunteer
Dundee City
Opportunity details
Strength & Balance volunteers transform the lives of individuals by supporting them to stay fit and active, improve confidence and increase their independence. Volunteers either lead a strength and balance exercise class or assist a trained instructor
Description
Strength & Balance volunteers transform the lives of individuals by creating a welcoming and enjoyable environment for them to participate in exercises, which can help improve mobility and reduce the risk of falls. Whether you are leading a class yourself or supporting a trained instructor to deliver activities, you'll be making a real difference to the people that you support. If you would like to have a positive impact on people in your community then this is the role for you.
Your friendly personality and motivational skills will contribute to a social and enjoyable atmosphere during the class. Preparing and leading strength and balance activity sessions, sharing your knowledge about the benefits of regular exercises, introducing music and movement to the group or welcoming and chatting to attendees are some of the tasks you may be asked to do in this role. We also have opportunities available for people with specific skills, so please tell us what your strengths are when we meet.
You will receive relevant training for your role (including how to deliver the exercise sessions e.g. through Move it or Lose it training) and will be welcomed and supported by a friendly local team.
