This role is about supporting and empowering older people to be independent and stay connected to their communities.
Healthy & Happy Lives volunteers transform the lives of people in their community by helping them to live as independently as they can, building community relationships, and re-establishing their confidence and well-being. You could be driving people to activities at a local centre, helping to provide lunch and healthy snacks, and tailoring support through social activities - this could involve providing nutrition and hydration guidance, helping with exercises to improve strength and mobility, or taking part in crafts and hobbies with the older person. If you would like to have a positive impact on people in your community then this is the role for you.
Youll need to have a friendly personality with the ability to observe and identify areas of concern. Youll have good communication and listening skills, with a non-judgemental attitude towards an individuals circumstances and a willingness to ensure confidentiality. Your role will involve elements of lone working and building a relationship with those you visit, which is hugely rewarding for both you and the people you support. We also have opportunities available for people with specific skills, so please tell us what your strengths are when we meet.
You will receive relevant training for your role and will be welcomed and supported by a friendly local team.
