This role is about supporting people to identify what practical support they need to live the life they want. You'll help people think about what they want and how to achieve it and will make a real difference to their life.
First Visit Volunteers meet with individuals and their families/carers to find out how Royal Voluntary Service can provide the practical support they need to help them live the life they want. This will involve identifying what activities, support and services they need to achieve these outcomes. Once we know this we can shape our services to meet these needs, or we can signpost them to other organisations who can help do so.
As a first visit volunteer you act as a catalyst, initiating the first steps a person can take to reducing their isolation and building connections with their local community. Your role will involve elements of lone working and building a relationship with those you visit, which is hugely rewarding for both you and the person you're supporting. We also have opportunities available for people with specific skills, so please tell us what your strengths are when we meet.
You will receive relevant training for your role and will be welcomed and supported by a friendly local team.
