Royal Voluntary Service is one of the UK’s largest hospital retailers with 230 shops, cafés and trolley services run by local staff and volunteers in hospitals across England, Wales and Scotland. Our cafés provide tea and company to patients, hospital staff and visitors and are a welcoming place to take a break. Our shops serve convenient, good value refreshments and top-up shopping and our trolley service volunteers offer refreshments, reading materials and personal items to patients on hospital wards. Profits from sales in our hospital shops, cafés and trolleys help fund our work supporting the NHS.
We are at the forefront of making hospitals healthier places to eat and drink and are proud to be top of the Campaign for Better Hospital Food’s Healthy Hospital Food League Table. Our cafés provide exciting menus and serve healthy, nutritious food and drink options at fair prices, including a wide range of fruit and nut snacks, soups and broths, freshly prepared salads, sandwiches, stews and seasonal dishes using local produce, and allergy, intolerance and health condition-friendly items. Space for unhealthy items like crisps, confectionery and sugary drinks has been dramatically reduced.
