Ballinger Charitable Trust
Royal Voluntary Service is delighted to once again receive the support of the Ballinger Charitable Trust and a generous grant towards the Living Well with Dementia Centres in Northumberland.
In 2016, the Trust helped us to establish the centres and thanks to their generosity we now have groups running in Alnwick, Berwick and Cramlington. The groups provide a safe and welcoming environment where people with early to moderate stage dementia and their carers can come and enjoy a range of activities and socialise together.
For the carers, the groups have become an important part of their weekly routine giving them time to socialise with their family member without worrying about the everyday pressures of caring. Importantly, they can also meet others in a similar situation and share their experiences.
"As a group we are fortunate to be able to give great support to each other and every week we look forward to our Thursday get together. It has been lovely to see how people have grown in confidence and the sessions offer fun activities in a stress free environment. We are all very grateful."

Thanks to the continued generosity of the Ballinger Charitable Trust, the groups are set to support more people in Northumberland with further growth and development planned.
"Our Living Well with Dementia groups will continue to provide vital support and respite for those living with dementia and their carers. The ongoing support and kindness of the Ballinger Charitable Trust means that we will be able to help more people with dementia and their carers in Northumberland. We are very thankful for their continued generosity and support."
