Royal Voluntary Service is an innovative charity that focuses on inspiring people to give the gift of voluntary service to support the NHS and older people at home and in the community. We are now looking for a Deputy Manager to join our team.

This role will give you the chance to engage with your local community to make a real positive difference while working with like-minded individuals to achieve targets in a quick paced setting.

Within a supportive and team focused environment, you will be encouraged to develop your skills and knowledge, enabling you to be considered for future higher management roles.

As the Deputy Manager, you’ll be responsible for assisting the Retail Manager in the achievement of the highest possible retail standards and the fulfilment of weekly financial goals.

Specifically, you’ll oversee the smooth running of our two cafés, shop and retail trolley services throughout Addenbrooke's Hospital.

You’ll ensure that the outlets deliver against performance targets, profit and loss and budgets. Ensuring exceptional standards, you’ll drive high quality customer service and make sure everything complies with health and safety, food and data protection standards.

Additionally, you’ll support a team of employees and upwards of 80 active volunteers throughout their journey, from recruitment, induction and training to performance management and exit.

Interested? To be considered, you will need:
  • Experience within a similar retail environment
  • Knowledge of EPOS systems
  • The ability to proficiently use industry standard IT systems, such as MS Office, email and the internet, to a basic level
Self-motivated and resourceful, as the Deputy Manager, you’ll have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. A great eye for detail, a positive attitude and superb time-management abilities are also key.

Experience of working with volunteers and/or volunteer-led support groups would be beneficial.

This is a full time role, working 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday but flexible working is considered.

The closing date for applications is 6 December, with interviews scheduled to be held on 11 December. Interviews will be held at Tea & Co. Café, Outpatients Department, in Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
