Gold standard retailing with social purpose
Royal Voluntary Service hospital Cafés, Shops and Trolleys are part of the fabric of the NHS and a real asset in their own right.
We are different from commercial operators, and rightly so. Our teams offer comfort, reassurance and a friendly ear to patients and visitors and act as a valuable link with helpful community services. Many volunteers are involved because they have a personal connection to their hospital.
Outlets are staffed by volunteers and employees and provide an outstanding range of healthy food choices which surpass commercial offerings in the NHS
Six great reasons to choose Royal Voluntary Service
1. Our retail formats
We have a range of flexible formats which flourish in different
types of hospital space. Our customers love the fact that the money they
spend with us pays for volunteer action in hospitals and the community
Our Cafés are a valuable haven offering healthy and nutritious meals and snacks, supported by our caring volunteers.
Our iconic Trolleys visit patients on ward to keep spirits up and serve refreshments on the round.
A popular and convenient store offering a wide range of food, drinks, magazines, gifts and cards.
A smaller format, often entirely volunteer-run offering hot drinks and snacks.
Our newest addition, an easy-set-up instant store to bring welcome refreshments to patients in any corner of your hospital.
2. Healthy living agenda
Royal Voluntary Service will help you to inspire your staff, patients
and visitors with great healthy eating options. We are dedicated to
leading the way and setting the agenda for what a professional,
responsible retailer should represent.
3. Financial flexibility
We offer a range of financial options, from gifting to guaranteed rental, designed to be flexible to the needs of each NHS Trust and Health Board.
4. Our experience
With over 200 Shops, Cafés and Trolleys in NHS locations throughout Great Britain, Royal Voluntary Service has been at the heart of providing refreshments to the NHS for decades.
5. Volunteer network
Royal Voluntary Service retail has over 8,500 volunteers and employees who give their time to benefit their hospital and local community. Our volunteers will help to put your hospital at the heart of the local community; adding care, commitment and dedication as they fulfill their role.
6. Charitable goals
Our retail outlets fund the charity’s wider work supporting vulnerable older people in hospital, at home and in the community. Funds raised in our retail sites are often invested in developing local services for the benefit of local patients, such as our Home from Hospital service that provides support for patients who are due to leave hospital.
Royal Voluntary Service is the the largest retailer in hospitals in Britain. See the impact our Healthier Choices Programme is making.
