How we use your money
Every single day, right here in Britain, your donations are touching the lives of communities. Thank you for every penny.
could help send a volunteer to visit an older person who may be struggling to cope on their own. More than one in ten older people are in contact with family, friends or neighbours less than once a month, so a volunteer who calls in for a regular chat and to offer a helping hand is truly appreciated.
could help cover the costs of a volunteer driver who generously gives their time and uses their own car to help older people who feel trapped in their home to get out and about, to stay connected with their community, or to get to essential medical appointments.
could help to provide intensive Home from Hospital support to an older person following an illness or injury. No-one wants to spend more time in hospital than they have to, and with this dedicated support for a few weeks, older people can return home and convalesce in the comfort and familiarity of their own home instead.
could help with the costs of a weekly Lunch Club where dozens of older people can come together to meet old friends and make new ones. Research shows that loneliness is a greater health risk than smoking or obesity, and something so simple as a weekly get together with friends can make all the difference to someone’s life.
could help us recruit, train, and support much needed new volunteers. We put a lot of work into finding the right sort of people to be volunteers – people who are friendly, caring and totally reliable. We interview them carefully, follow up their references, carry out checks if necessary, and make sure we match their skills with the right – all to make sure we provide the best possible service to the people we support.
