Prudential UK

Royal Voluntary Service is partnering with Prudential UK on projects and campaigns to encourage older people across the UK to stay active, engaged and connected to their community.
One in eight (12 per cent) over 60s said they don’t take part in any activities, with a lack of mobility (33 per cent), not wanting to go somewhere where they didn’t know anyone (20 per cent) and activity costs (13 per cent) cited as some of the biggest barriers for older people across the country.
Together, we launched First Time for Everything - giving older people the opportunity to try something new locally for free. Activities included exercise classes, basic camera skills classes, yoga and dance.

In January 2018, we collaborated again on Bring People Together a programme that inspired a commitment to voluntary service and grow a network of clubs for older people across Great Britain – led by volunteers aged 50+.
Bring People Together mobilised the public to step forward and volunteer in their community by inviting them to start a new activity club or group. From social activities and hobby classes to running a lunch club or providing companionship to older people in their homes, the programme aimed to put their talents and life experience to valuable use by encouraging them to come forward.
The programme initially targeted six areas: Manchester, London, Glasgow, Stirling, Reading and North Wales before rolling out in another five further areas; Kent (Tonbridge), Leicester, Northumberland (Newcastle), Gloucestershire and Norfolk (Norwich) in June 2018.
With the shared aims of reducing loneliness and enhancing the lives of older people, both organisations have also worked together to produce a film in support of the Jo Cox Commission on Loneliness. The film follows three older men who have all faced loneliness and conquered it by building networks and connections through the support of their communities:
