Yakult

Royal Voluntary Service is partnering with Yakult to inspire more people to volunteer through creating three films that showcase the ‘difference we make’. The third and final film launched in September 2020 showcasing the difference we are making during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our services are a life-line to older and vulnerable people, keeping them safe, well and connected.

This film will also encourage donations towards our COVID-19 emergency appeal

The first film in the #MakeADifference series highlighted the importance of our volunteer led lunch clubs in providing older people with a place to enjoy a nutritious hot meal in company, starring Countdown’s Rachel Riley as an ‘accidental volunteer’ at our Rickmansworth Lunch Club.

The second film in the series featured Royal Voluntary Service ambassador Wayne Sleep OBE, visiting our social centre in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent to meet volunteers and participants from a line dancing group and witnessing first-hand how these sorts of groups are helping older people to keep active whilst staying socially connected.

Our third and final film highlights the vital work Royal Voluntary Service is doing to support the most vulnerable people during the COVID-19 crisis and is narrated by Dame Penelope Wilton OBE. The film focuses on our services that have been supporting people during the pandemic such as grocery and prescription drops, emergency food packs, companionship phone calls and safe and well checks.

This winter, Yakult is also helping older and vulnerable people prepare for the colder months, by supporting our Safe, Warm and Well campaign.

Together, we have produced a practical printed guide and a short animated film with tips and advice on how to stay safe, warm and well. This new advice guide and film provides practical tips for the coming months, like a reminder to get a flu jab, to eat nutritious meals and to keep active. It also provides important information on gas safety and where to turn for help if needed, like the Priority Services Register to receive support during power outages or Royal Voluntary Service to get help from a friendly volunteer.

"This winter will be especially difficult for vulnerable and older people in our communities who lack support. We hope that this practical guide will highlight simple things that we can all do to get prepared and also help others stay safe, warm and well. This is just one of many admirable Royal Voluntary Service initiatives and we are proud to give back by supporting their efforts."
