People's Postcode Lottery
Royal Voluntary Service is fortunate to benefit from the support of players of People’s Postcode Lottery; a charity lottery where participants play with their postcodes to win cash prizes, while raising money for charities and good causes.
Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have been supporting Royal Voluntary Service since 2015 and have raised over £13m for our work with older people across Great Britain.
Thanks to support from players, we are providing services and activities which support older people to stay connected to their communities. One of the ways we’re doing this is to support more volunteers to develop and run groups and clubs which help to bring people together.

During the coronavirus pandemic, we were unable to bring our community based clubs and groups together so thanks to support from players we launched the Virtual Village Hall to help keep minds and bodies active. The Virtual Village Hall features a programme of free video sessions led by expert tutors, Royal Voluntary Service activity coordinators and volunteers. Activities include gentle exercise, arts and crafts, recipes and baking, technology skills to something different such as beatboxing, Bollywood dancing, laughter yoga and Zumba Gold.
"In these troubled times, Royal Voluntary Service has stepped up to the plate and in a very 'up to date' way is offering myself and others, who are needing to isolate at home, a chance to catch up with the things they usually do but now cannot, things they would like to explore further, things they would like to try but perhaps would never be brave enough to try in public, and even things that they have never considered."
