Diamond Champions
WRVS celebrated Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee by searching for the UK’s Diamond Champions - older people who give their time to improve the lives of those around them. Supported by Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, Diamond Champions recognises the contribution that people over the age of 60 make through volunteering.
In all 4,573 people were nominated as Diamond Champions, representing 249 charities.
The 60 Diamond Champions chosen from each region attended regional celebrations in their honour, where they were presented with a specially designed Diamond Champions pin as well as a certificate signed by Their Royal Highnesses.
At each of these local events, ten Diamond Champions were chosen to join 70 other Diamond Champions from across the UK to a celebration at St James’s Palace in London on 29 November, where they will meet Their Royal Highnesses.
Congratulations to all our Diamond Champions - you make an incredible difference to the lives of others around you. You can see the results from each region and more about the regional events by clicking the links below.
