Royal Voluntary Service volunteers can assist older people looking to get help to become more independent. Helping them with practical tasks, providing meals, and even bringing books over with our home libraries service.
We are committed to drawing older people out of isolation with our community activities. Our lunch clubs, social centres and community cafés are all ran by volunteers who provide a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Our clubs have enabled older people to meet with older friends, make new friends and even learn new skills.
In healthcare settings our volunteers are there for older people. Where family and friends cannot visit or provide transportation to and from hospital, our volunteers provide warmth and support akin to that of a family member. Sometimes getting out and about can be difficult for an older person who has limited transportation or mobility. Over the years our volunteers have used a combination of their own cars, adapted vehicles or mini buses, to give an older person more access into their local community.
