Fundraise in your neighbourhood
As a registered charity, Royal Voluntary Service relies on amazing people like you for fundraising to support many areas of our work. It is becoming more and more important as local spending is squeezed to meet the needs of the growing older population in your local areas.
You can raise money for local services so that we can continue to help local people that you know.
Local community fundraising might include:
- Sponsored activities – from running a marathon or other running events, to a sponsored silence or anything in between.
- Social events – quiz nights, barbecues, bingo or a huge range of other events mean people can have fun while you raise funds.
- Sales – you can sell things like excess produce, plants and flowers from your garden, home-made cakes or unwanted clutter on ebay or a car boot sale to raise funds for Royal Voluntary Service.
- Royal Voluntary Service fundraising initiatives which we’ll let you know about on this website, that support our campaigns. We’ll provide you with dedicated promotional material to help you make your local events a success.
See some of fundraising ideas to inspire you. Don’t forget to tell us about your fundraising efforts by registering your event and we can give you all the help and support you need to raise as much money as possible from your amazing efforts.
And watch out for exciting new opportunities to help us raise awareness and money for Royal Voluntary Services in your local area - search for volunteering opportunities in your area. We need volunteer fundraising committee chairs to set up and run local groups to fundraise for the charity and fundraising volunteers are needed to help raise money.
"After three years of collecting, melting and moulding plastic milk carton caps (approx 10,000) I produced something vaguely resembling a boat. The challenge was to see if I could get it from Cambridge to Waterbeach along the River Cam (a distance of four miles) in less than four hours.

Many thanks to all those who have collected milk carton caps for me."
"13 of us from the Department of Histopathology at Addenbrooke's Hospital took part the Great Eastern Run (13.1 miles). There are two great Royal Voluntary Service volunteer-run shops at Addenbrooke's: a coffee shop at outpatients and a snack shop at oncology."
