Nominate your Diamond Champion

We’re celebrating Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee by launching a search for Diamond Champions in recognition of the important and valuable role played by older people in communities throughout the UK. 

Who can you nominate as a Diamond Champion?

ThDiamond Championse person you nominate:

  • must be 60 years old or over on 27 July 2012 
  • must not be a member of your family 
  • must have given you his or her consent to being nominated

They might also be: 

  • helping anyone of any age or improving the life of their local community
  • new to volunteering or an old hand
  • male or female
  • volunteering for WRVS or any other national or local charity, group or organisation
  • volunteering more informally on an individual basis
  • just like Her Majesty The Queen: over 80 and still giving their time.

  1. An explanation of the difference their volunteering work makes.
  2. The amount of time they give to volunteering.
  3. A reason why you have nominated them.
  4. Any examples you can give of ways they go the extra mile.
  5. Any examples you can give of ways they inspire others.

You could include other evidence such as:

  • How they have developed the service they offer.
  • How they have developed their own skills through volunteering.
